Reunion 2009

This year’s reunion will be held on June 20, 2009. It will take place at the Holmes Presbyterian Conference Center (HPCC) in Holmes, NY. Please reserve the date on your calendar so that you can join us and share the fellowship. The HPCC site is by their lake and has picnic tables, grills, and recreational facilities including swimming and boating. There is also a large building with a meeting area in case of inclement weather.
We suggest that you check the website every couple of weeks for additional information.

NYCMS Camp Feasibility Study

NYCMS has been considering eliminating its sleep over camp activities and selling the Dover Furnace property. Recently, NYCMS has commissioned a study to determine the feasibility of operations without the camping program. Victor Gonzalez has received a copy of this report and has decided to have it posted on the website. The report has been printed as an Adobe Acrobat pdf file and can be viewed by clicking here.

Memories of Bull’s Bridge

In the 1950s, early 1960s and perhaps beyond, a visit to Bull’s Bridge was the best ending to camp staff truck nights. Photos of the bridge were taken on Dover Day to help bring back memories of the staff visits to the bridge.

Memory Lane Comments

The new Memory Lane slideshow is open! The link to the old Memory Lane section, displayed on the main Sharparoon.com page, points to the new slide show. If you have comments about the slide show or if you want to identify people in some of the images, you should post those comments here. You should identify the slide by listing the group (The Lake, Mess Hall, Reunion, etc) and display number (1, 2, 3, etc). I will update the captions under the images to include any names of people that you have posted. You can also click here to access the new slideshow.

Small Camp Cheers

Sharparoon songs and cheers are being assembled for display. The Pine Hollow cheer and two Berkshire Men cheer variations have already been posted on the Blog. As Blog Administrator, I have added (as comments) cheers for the Iroquois, Schaghticokes and Westward Ho, but I’m not sure that I have all the words right. Also, I cannot remember the Ah Widerness cheer (except that it ends with Wilderness, Wilderness, Wahoo).
If you remember any part of this cheer, or can correct the other small camp cheers, add a comment with your version.
