SHARPAROON REUNION UPDATE
I am very pleased to report that the arrangements for the Memorial Day reunion at the Holmes Presbyterian Center in Holmes, NY have been finalized. The reunion is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 10AM to 6PM and is open to all Sharparoon, Green Acres, Teen Valley and Friends of Camping Plus alumni. We would love to have as large a turnout as possible and make the reunion an annual event. The cost is $10 per person with a maximum of $25 per family. Please make your checks payable to Friends of Camping Plus and mail them to Jose "Figgy" Figueroa, 377 Spruce Drive, Brick, NJ 08723.
In addition to your check, please include a list containing the name(s) of the person(s) that will be attending.
Our group has been assigned the large picnic area by the lake and has access to all of the camp facilities including Swimming & boating. There is an additional fee that we will pay to cover life guarding costs. Grills will be provided by the camp and you will provide all food, drinks, paper goods, charcoal and lighter fluid. There is a large pavilion in the vicinity of the lakefront with bathroom facilities that will be used in the event of rain or any other inclement weather.

Hello Sharparoon/Green Acres Alumni:
Most of you are aware that the NYCMS Sharparoon/Green Acres camping programs as we knew them ceased to exist years ago.
We were disappointed that the official NYCMS) website had no mention of any of the Camp Sharparoon, Green Acres, or Teen Valley camping programs’ history.
Last spring City Mission (NYCMS) made a decision to cease using the Dover Plains properties for any activities.
Therefore, there were no camping programs at all; nor were private groups allowed to rent the complex for retreats and other activities.
For those of us wondering about any possible reopening, we were informed that the Board of Directors would be placing the sale of the camp property on the agenda.
We will keep you informed about current events regarding the future of the NYCMS camping program.
This website is dedicated to you, Sharparooners, to help you connect with past friends and to reminisce about your camp experience.
